SLO Yang Gang

Andrew Yang announced his campaign for president in 2017. Within that two year span, Yang has grown a following that has some of the most interesting people. Tech guru's like Elon Musk, truckers in the midwest and even the meme lords of Reddit have all joined the "Yang Gang."

The SLO Yang Gang is small, but it draws people from many different parts of San Luis Obispo. From entrepreneurs, to former Republicans, to mothers and most prevelantly the students, all have joined the SLO Yang Gang in one way or another.

Meet the Gang

Political Candidates need to understand how to reach people from all different walks of life. Andrew Yang is no exception. Members of the San Luis Obispo community told me what they like about Yang.

The biggest thing for me is the Freedom Dividend, business senior Justin Ho said.

I'm constantly working or at school, so getting out like this is so rare for me, Ho said.

I'm super active on Reddit and the r/yanggang community is always making me laugh. I just hope that all of the passion that I see online could translate to him winning, Ho said.

The thousand dollars a month would really just allow me to work less and focus on myself. Maybe I would travel out to a Yang rally or something, but for now, I have Reddit, Ho said.

I didn't understand how hard it was to start a business until I finally did it, entrepreneur Max Diep said.

That's one of the things that I love about Yang, he's an entrepreneur too, Diep said.

The extra money is going to be great for people like me, you can really motivate people when they have the means to be motivated, Diep said.

Connor Berger grew up in a Republican household. It wasn't until his girlfriend, Grace Han, introduced him to Yang that he really started getting invested into politics and rethink his old views.
